Cargo Bike Weather and Incidents

Mubea eCargo · Bike Safety Guides

Adjust the plan when conditions change.

Rain, wind and poor surfaces

  • Reduce speed early and allow extra stopping space.
  • Avoid sudden braking and steering on slippery surfaces.
  • Watch for potholes, drains, leaves, ice and standing water.
  • Take particular care in crosswinds and exposed streets.
  • Keep lights and mirrors clean and your view unobstructed.

Know when to stop

If grip, visibility, wind or flooding makes the route unsafe, find a safe stopping place and contact your manager. Do not enter water when you cannot judge depth or hidden hazards.

Breakdown or collision

Stop and assess immediate danger. Move yourself to safety where possible. Call 999 if someone is seriously injured or there is immediate danger. Tell your manager your location and what happened, then follow the fleet incident process.

Accident reporting · report all damage

Always notify your Site Manager or the fleet team of all damage, no matter how small.

This includes a scratch, a small knock, damage to the bike, another vehicle, a building or other property. Do not decide that it is too minor to report.

  1. Stop safely and check for danger or injuries. Get yourself and others to safety where possible. Call 999 for serious injury or immediate danger.
  2. Notify your Site Manager or the fleet team straight away. Give your exact location, the time, your bike or vehicle identifier and a factual account of what happened.
  3. Collect the third party’s full name and contact telephone number. For a vehicle, record its registration number and the driver’s name and address. For a house or other property, record the full property address and the owner or occupier’s name and telephone number where available.
  4. Record the scene and all damage when safe. Take clear photos of the damage, vehicle registration or property, and the wider location. Note any witnesses and their contact details if they agree.
  5. Send the details and photos through the fleet’s incident-reporting process. The team needs them to report the incident to the insurance teams. Share personal details only through the approved company channel.
  6. If details are unavailable, report that too. Do not guess or leave the incident unreported. Tell the manager what is missing and follow their instructions.

Do not continue riding if the bike may be unsafe. Follow the fleet team’s inspection or recovery instructions before returning it to service.

Before returning to service

Do not continue with damaged brakes, steering, wheels, battery equipment or an unexplained warning. Arrange an approved inspection or recovery.

People first. Parcels second.

Never put yourself in traffic or a fire hazard to retrieve a delivery.
