Why are Daily Vehicle Checks Important?
A Daily Vehicle Check (DVC) must be completed before loading your van every day. This is a legal requirement and ensures your vehicle is safe and roadworthy before leaving the station.
During your inspection, always check:
- ✅ Tyres (pressure, tread depth, nails, cuts or damage)
- ✅ All lights and indicators
- ✅ Mirrors and windows
- ✅ Windscreen and wipers
- ✅ Fluid levels (where applicable)
- ✅ Bodywork for any damage
- ✅ Dashboard warning lights
- ✅ Any other safety or mechanical defects
Reporting Defects
If you find any damage, defect or concern, you must:
- Complete the defect correctly within the Daily Vehicle Check.
- Report the issue to your Site Manager/OSM as soon as possible.
- Never ignore, hide or fail to report defects.
Some defects may result in the vehicle being grounded until repaired to ensure the safety of yourself and other road users.
